Lex Professional Development Group Inc. (“LexPD”) is committed to protecting your privacy.

 

Who we are

 

Lex Professional Development Group Inc. is a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada. It operates as LexPD, NCA Tutor™, OntarioBarExam.com and ParalegalExam.ca. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). For any privacy question or request, email info@lexpd.ca.

 

What this policy covers

 

This policy covers lexpd.ca: our tutoring, our notes and indices, our classes and workshops, and the store on this site.

 

The store also sells the practice exams for OntarioBarExam.com and ParalegalExam.ca. When you buy one, we pass the email address you used at checkout, your order number and what you bought to that site, so it can give you access under that email address. Your account there, your answers and your results are covered by that site's own privacy policy: the OntarioBarExam.com privacy policy (https://ontariobarexam.com/privacy) or the ParalegalExam.ca privacy policy (https://paralegalexam.ca/privacy).

 

What we collect

 

  • Orders: your name, email address, billing address, phone number if you give one, what you bought and the order number. Checkout also records that you agreed to our policies. We never see or store your payment card details. If you pay by Interac e-Transfer, we receive the sender name, email address and transfer details that come with it.

  • Classes and workshops: your full name, billing address and contact details, which our Terms & Conditions of Use require for enrolment.

  • Notes and indices: the email address we deliver them to.

  • Tutoring: the details you give us when you ask about tutoring or book it.

  • Mailing list: the email address you sign up with.

  • Messages: anything you send us, by email or through this site.

 

How we use it

 

We use your information to process and deliver your order, to enrol you in classes and workshops and run them, to arrange tutoring, to answer your messages, and to send you our mailing list if you signed up for it. We also keep the records our tax and accounting obligations require, and if a payment is disputed, we use the order record to show what was bought and that you agreed to our policies.

 

Classes and recordings

 

Our live classes normally run on Google Meet. When we record a class, we record only the instructor's camera and screen. Students are not recorded.

 

Sharing your information

 

We do not sell the information you provide to us. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this site and deliver what you buy (listed below under "Service providers"), with your consent, or where the law requires it.

 

Security

 

LexPD takes reasonable measures to secure information sent by you through our Site. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure. To the extent permitted by law, LexPD is not liable for losses caused by unauthorized access to your information that happens despite those reasonable measures. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions of Use for more information.

 

If a breach of security creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires.

 

Mailing list

 

If you choose to sign up to our mailing list, you will receive promotional information from us. You may unsubscribe from that list at any time by using the “unsubscribe” button located at the bottom of our e-mail communication.

 

We add you to the list only if you sign up. We send it through Brevo. Unsubscribing does not stop the emails you need about an order you placed or a class you booked.

 

Cookies and analytics

 

In order to enhance user experience, our website uses cookies and google analytics.

 

Google Analytics tells us how visitors use the site, for example which pages they view. Wix, which runs this site, also sets cookies the site needs to work, such as the ones that keep your cart during checkout. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but parts of the site, such as checkout, may not work without them.

 

Service providers

 

LexPD may use the services of third parties such as payment processors. The privacy policy of those third parties will govern the information you provide to them.

 

The service providers we use for lexpd.ca are:

 

  • Wix: hosts this site and runs our store, checkout and payment processing.

  • Google: our business email, Google Meet for live classes, and Google Analytics.

  • Brevo: sends our mailing list and some of our other emails.

  • Interac: if you pay by Interac e-Transfer, the payment goes through Interac and the banks involved.

 

Some of these providers operate outside Canada. This means your information may be processed in another country and could be accessible to that country's courts or authorities under its laws.

 

How long we keep it

 

We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide what you asked for, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records and our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

 

Your rights

 

Under PIPEDA you may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete your information (except records the law requires us to keep, such as tax records), or withdraw your consent to anything we do not need to provide what you bought, such as the mailing list.

 

Email info@lexpd.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

 

Children

 

Our services are for licensing candidates and legal professionals. They are not directed at children.

 

Changes to this policy

 

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top.
