Civil Litigation on the paralegal paper is the law of the Small Claims Court and the boards and tribunals where a paralegal appears for a party: who can bring a claim, where, by when, what has to be pleaded and served, how a defence and a settlement conference work, and what happens at trial and afterwards when a judgment has to be enforced. It rewards knowing the steps and the deadlines in order, which is a different skill from knowing the law of contract or negligence that sits underneath the claim.
